2025 marks 25 years of VOKRA rescuing, healing, and rehoming thousands of cats and kittens across Metro Vancouver. It's a moment to celebrate our legacy—but also a time to come together during one of the most challenging years we’ve ever faced.
Prepare to lace up your sneakers and hit the beach for a cause close to our hearts. The 2025 Walk for the Kitties is almost approaching, and we’re thrilled to ask you to join us at Locarno Beach Picnic Site next to Jericho Beach on September 7th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a 5k fun walk.
Why Walk for the Kitties?
Like many rescues, we're navigating tough economic times. Rising vet bills, soaring supply costs, and increased demand for care have placed a heavy burden on our operations. Every cat we rescue comes with the promise of love, safety, and medical attention—no matter how complex or costly their needs.
We never euthanize for space, and we say “yes” to the vulnerable pregnant queens and kittens, and special cases of injured or abandoned. But we can’t continue without your help.
We believe in the power of community and in the kindness of people like you.
That’s why we’re setting our most ambitious fundraising goal ever: $250,000
